Vietnam Travel & Accommodation Information
Plan your trip!

Apart from packing your kite gear (or your swimwear, if you’ll be renting gear or doing lessons), planning your trip is the most important part of kitesurfing and wingfoiling in Mui Ne. Vietnam is easy to get to, and easy to get into, but there are a few things to double check to make sure your trip is smooth sailing. Here’s a short, comprehensive guide on getting to Mui Ne for an unforgettable kitesurfing and wing foiling holiday.
Visa Information
How to get a Vietnam visa
Vietnam’s Visa system is fairly straightforward, fair and simple. Apply online before your trip, for a 1 month or 3 month visa (for most countries). Some lucky countries don’t need a visa, but most do. The most convenient way to get a visa for entry into Vietnam is by applying for an eVisa through the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security, Immigration Department’s eVisa website. There are some websites that look like the official website, but will charge you extra, or not give you a visa at all. Be sure to only apply for the visa through the official website; https://evisa.gov.vn/
We strongly recommend applying for your visa at least two weeks before your trip, to make sure you have enough time to correct any mistakes should you make one. Your visa needs to exactly match your passport—including the middle name if you have one. Apply early, double check everything, and check again carefully when you get it.
If you do have a problem, there are some visa agents that can expedite your visa in as little as 8 hours. If something happens to you, send us a message on WhatsApp and we will see if we can help.

Getting to Mui Ne from Ho Chi Minh city and North Vietnam
How to get here
Most people come to Mui Ne from Ho Chi Minh city, flying into SGN International Airport. This is definitely the shortest and most straightforward way to get to Mui Ne. Depending on what time your flight arrives and how you prefer to travel, you might be able to go straight to Mui Ne—but we’d suggest spending a night or two in Ho Chi Minh if it's your first time!
Once you’ve arrived in Mui Ne, catch a grab to your accommodation, head out for some fantastic local food, and get ready to kite!
Ho Chi Minh to Mui Ne by bus
Sleeper buses and limousines (small, very comfortable buses) operate a few times a day between Ho Chi Minh and surrounding cities, including Mui Ne. We’d recommend the sleeper bus, because for less than $10USD you can book a private, booth-like seat that fully reclines and can be curtained off for a peaceful, sleeping trip to Mui Ne. The bus takes a little longer than a private car—about 4 hours to the Mui Ne bus stop.
To catch the bus, you’ll need to go to the ticket office in District 1, which is about 20-30 minutes away from the airport by taxi or Grab. You can book your ticket at the office, or online at https://www.vietnambustickets.com/saigon

Ho Chi Minh to Mui Ne by private car
An alternative to catching the bus is booking a private car. Private cars start from around $50USD, but can be much more convenient than the bus, as they can pick you up from anywhere—including the airport—and take you straight to your accommodation in Mui Ne. One of the best ways to organise a private car is to ask your accommodation in Mui Ne. They’ll organise someone local and reliable, and generally at a good price. Otherwise, feel free to send us a message on WhatsApp and we can recommend a provider.
Getting to Mui Ne from North Vietnam by train
If you’re coming from the north, or anywhere that isn’t Ho Chi Minh, the trains are a great way to travel. They’re generally comfortable and affordable, and run the full length of Vietnam. Most major cities and villages will have a train station. Book a ticket online, or in person at the office. The sleeper trains are a fun, unique way to see the country and cover a lot of distance overnight. The trains to Mui Ne arrive in Binh Thuan, and from there you’ll need to take a Grab or taxi (depending on what time you arrive) to Mui Ne.
Accomodation
Where to stay in Mui Ne
Mui Ne has accomodation options for every traveler and every budget. From affordable, local-style homestays to high-end, ultra luxury resorts, there’s something for everyone. When people say “Mui Ne’ for traveling and kitesurfing, they generally mean Mui Ne beach, which runs parallel to the main street, along which you’ll find most of the accommodation. Surfpoint is located at the western end of Mui Ne, towards the golf course and Phan Thiet, and this is where the best kitesurfing spots in Mui Ne are. The eastern end of Mui Ne, however, has a huge range of bars, restaurants, the market, and food courts—as well as great accommodation options. Here are some of our favourite accommodation choices in Mui Ne.
If you’re staying for many months, or even a whole season, ask us about long term accommodation. We’d be happy to point you in the right direction, or put you in touch with people that can rent you a room or even a whole house.

Transport Options
How to get around Mui Ne.
If you’re a confident rider and have an international driving permit, renting a motorbike is the best way to travel around Mui Ne. Just be sure to check the status of your permit in Vietnam. Australia’s, for example, is not recognised here. You can rent a bike from any of the countless rental providers all along the main street in town. Prices are around 100-150,000 Vietnamese Dong per day, depending on how long you rent for.
If you’re not a confident rider, or don’t have a valid permit, using Grab to get around is very affordable and convenient. Short trips can be as little as 15,000 VND, and there are many Grab operators in Mui Ne—you’ll never need to wait more than a few minutes.

Getting to Surfpoint, Mui Ne
How to get to Surfpoint Kite and Wing Station
Once you’ve arrived at Mui Ne and settled into your accommodation, it's time to hit the water! If you’re storing your gear in our secure kite storage facility, bring everything down with you. Otherwise, just grab your kite (check out our forecast page for what size to bring on the day!), your board, bar and gear and get down here!
You’ll find the kite station right on the beach, in front of Sea Horse Resort and Spa. You can park in the resort’s car park—just follow the security team’s instructions—and then walk down the path next to the toilet building.
