Vietnam’s Windy Playground

If you’re into kitesurfing—or just kite-curious—and looking for a spot that ticks all the boxes (steady wind, warm water, chill vibes), let me introduce you to a little place on the Southeast coast of Vietnam called Mũi Né. It’s that perfect mix of laid-back beach town and adrenaline-pumping wind sports, and it might just become your favorite kitesurf destination in Asia. 🪁

Why Mũi Né?

One word: wind. From November to April, this stretch of coast turns into a wind factory, cranking out daily side-onshore breezes that hover between 15 to 25+ knots. That means tons of rideable days, great for both learning and leveling up. You’ve got long sandy beaches, warm water (no wetsuits needed), and a solid community of kiters from all over the world.

Plus, everything’s super affordable—gear rentals, lessons, food, even beachfront accommodation. You can literally finish a killer session, walk a few meters, and sip a cold coconut or local beer while watching other riders tear it up. Not bad, right?

Best Spots to Ride

  • Mũi Né Main Beach: This is the main hub. There’s a heap of kite schools, so it’s beginner-friendly in the mornings when the wind is softer. Afternoons get a little bit more intense with stronger gusts and choppier water.

  • Malibu Beach: Quieter, with fewer people—great for intermediate to advanced riders who want more space and better wave conditions.

  • Phan Rang: A bit off the beaten path but worth it if you want flatter water and fewer crowds. If you want to stay here, check out Phi Kite School, or sometimes Surfpoint will do day trips here.

Mui Ne is wild, windy, and buzzing with energy. Whether you’re just starting out or throwing big airs, this place embraces every level with open arms (and wide open skies). So pack light, bring your stoke, and let Mũi Né show you what a real kite trip feels like.
